SERVICES

What makes our home different: We invite you to make our family an extension of yours.

Now is not the time to feel guilty about what you cannot do, or what has not been done.

Instead let us focus on the future and what we can do to make life as wonderful as possible from this day forward!

During our first couple of conversations, we will answer your questions. We will also have questions for you so we can get to know your loved one and tailor our services to meet their needs and choices. We use a comprehensive questionnaire to discover what your loved one needs, likes and dislikes.

The following services are available to help make life the best. See for yourself if Huckleberry Ridge family home sounds like what you are looking for:

- All meal preparation. We know that everybody craves something special! Whether it is a particular dish, meal or snack, we will identify favorite foods and incorporate those preferences into our daily menu. We understand mature taste buds often do not care for lots of exotic flavors. We are sure you will be very satisfied with the quality, variety, and presentation.

What happens if you have family coming from a long distance but your loved one simply doe not feel like going out we may suggest a meal or refreshments here at home for the whole gang.

We continue to receive rave reviews on our menu. We use fresh ingredients in our kitchen. Ninety-nine percent of our meals are made entirely from scratch. As a rule, we even roast our own coffee beans, and make our own vanilla extract. Yum!

A random sampling of some delicacies served from the kitchen: made-to-order omelettes (with a variety of fillings and toppings), rice pudding extraordinaire, German pancakes, buttermilk pancakes, Swedish hots, tomato bisque, beef stroganoff, apple pie, fruit salad, chocolate mousse, quiche, cream scones with jam, broccoli salad, Greek pasta salad, crisp oven-roasted chicken, fresh bread, outdoor, grilled salmon, chocolate cranberry cookies -- and more.

There is virtually no limit to the variety of dishes and meals we prepare.

And, if you have a special request, we try to accommodate.

- Medication assistance. We assist at whatever level you or your loved one may need, from monitoring the correct daily amounts to ordering refills, and everything in between. You choose. Nurse delegation is available when required.

- Rehabilitation assistance. Does your loved one need to learn to walk again? Regain some abilities? Recovering from surgery? In the middle of cancer treatment? We care, and we have experience in these areas, and always focus on promoting independence and grace.

- What if your loved one just wants to go out window shopping or lunch? We are there!

- Personal care. What does your loved one need personal help with? We provide assistance with every imaginable need. Typical areas of assistance include: Getting dressed, steadying a walker, getting into or out of a chair, bathing, toileting, keeping track of personal effects, calendar appointments, and the list goes on. Again, you and/or your loved one choose, and we will discuss these needs in our first conversation together.

If there are services prohibited by state law, we assist you in securing appropriate assistance.

- Memory care: Certificated in dementia/Alzheimer care. We strive to be mindful of what is not working the way it should and adjust our strategy for providing a peaceful, loving atmosphere. Even on those days where memory issues are stressing out your loved one, and maybe you. We are here for you both.

- Hospice Care: We coordinate the delivery of hospice services with outside providers. Hospice completes a survey of your preferences -- no more, no less. The hospice representative delivers a care plan based on your preferences. It is that simple.

- Laundry and cleaning. We offer every level of assistance in keeping bedrooms tidy and cozy, and the wardrobe clean.

- Hearing assistance. We have special equipment to assist hearing favorite movies, TV channels or radio programs -- better than ever.

- Technology. We are connected in the Internet age. If you live in another city or state and want to speak with your loved one we can provide a video call! Email is also available. Our technology resources are available here so you can stay connected with your loved one.

- RN Consultative Support. We have a professional relationship with local RNs who are available to provide consultative input when the need arises.

- Activities. When you uproot an entire life at this point in time, life can feel as if it has been turned upside down. In time, we will assist your loved one in establishing a new routine. Toward this goal, they can join in bird watching, gardening, exercises, music, movies, or just read a book. Like a good game of Scrabble? A rousing game of cards? We are mindful of abilities and preferences as we offer custom activities which are relevant and meaningful to your loved one.

Frankly, life with our family means that you can know someone is generally watching out for your loved one. We value their independence and we encourage them to do all that they can do on their own. We take care of the rest.

Let us enjoy the journey with you.
